Sunday April 6 was the Mid Atlantic Super Series Relay Race put on by VisitPA team, and race director Mike Kuhn. The race was a BLAST! A relay team consists of 4 people (all levels), who race a 2-3 mile loop on Mike Kuhn's family's farm. Its a sweet piece of property.

Running the LeMans start was about 1/4 mile run and then hop on the bikes to start the loop. The run was insane: pushing, shoving, knocked down, craziness to get your bike! I am a runner, a transitioner, and used to this type of situation from XTERRA. I know that I have to keep my cool when running, because you don't want to blow up on the first hill of the bike. What I didn't like, is where I had to put my bike for the pick up. The first lap I thought went smoothly.. it was a lengthy time: but I did have to put in the run in addition to the bike.
Linda (2nd) Rocked each lap and was consistent, Kathleen (3rd) and I shared many times & stories of each lap, and Lyn(4th) kept the smooth pace for a tie for 6th place. Not too shabby for us female LoweRiders. I heard some guys in the tent talking about "go all out or go home"...when I heard that, I thought "YEA!" and then I thought to myself thats not my style, and I like to think "There's a strategy in this game...and we have to use it". hence, 6th place for the Lady Lowe Riders!!! I am not a sprinter on the mtn bike, but you can count me in for the long haul.
Team LoweRiders consists of super athletes & good people. Its a young and vibrant team who will do very well this year. The best part of the race is when Andy Lowe, owner, athlete, father, good neighbor to my sister, and racer said to me "I was so proud today to have such a great team under the LoweRiders tent."
Kudos to Todd Strauss, Team LoweRiders coordinator, who put the time in to recruit each member and also brought the burgers & enough chips for the entire population of Marysville, PA. (and who was supposed to bring the cheese???!!!)
